The record label that we think would best suit our band is Arista records, which is an American label owned subsidiary of Sony music entertainment; one of the major distributers. We would sign them to this particular label because they are a mainstream organization which means that our bands music would reach a wide range of audience.

Appropriate TV channel for our band would be music channels such as MTV 2, kerrang, MTT rock. This is mainly because in the UK these channels are typical channels that represent ours bands genre as well as others. This means that our band will be able to reach their primary target audience as well as the mainstream audience. Furthermore having their music on these TV channels would give them more publicity which could help promote their star persona (what I mean by this is that the viewer would see the bands style and if they like it they may decide to copy the style).

The magazines that are most appropriate to advertise our band through, would be Neo and black velvet as these magazines mainly feature rock band artists and also because they appeal to our primary target audience. (we know that these magazine appeal to our target audience as we did some audience background research)

Other possible magazines we could advertise in would be teen magazines such as teen vogue and now magazine because even though the genre of our music is Rock it has also that soft pop rock element to it which would strongly attract teenage girls.

We can promote the band by giving discount to fans. For example if they buy the bands album they get 2 concert tickets for the price of 1. This sort of promotion for the band would save money for target audience which would hopefully get more people to buy their products such as posters and clothes as well as appear at the bands live performances.

We can market the band through web 2.0 sites. For example we could create a Facebook page for our band which will allow existing fans to share their music and interest with their friends and friends of friends creating a wider fan base for Twirl. We could also market them by having an official website which will contain information on, the band where to buy their music and other useful information that will keep the audience in the picture.

Also the band could make an appearance on chat shows or TV programs such as X factor which could again give them the chance to gain more fans and reaching a wider and varied target audience.

Lastly another way we could promote our band is through having them support other artists such as Avril Lavigne during concerts. E.g. while Avril Lavigne is changing costumes / preparing the set Twirl could keep the crowd entertained. Twirl could also introduce the artist before they actually start performing. This would be beneficial for both artists as they may have slightly different target audience who can now tap into either of their music if they like It.

We didn't just choose one idea we are using different parts from each group members idea to create a final idea. We decide to use different parts of each idea because everyone of our idea we have both strengths and weakness, so we use the parts of each idea that are good to come up with a better idea. Due to the title of the song Candy we are still going with the candy theme and a few animations. Most of the video will mainly be performance and conceptual which will cut between the narrative part of the video( the narrative part will be shown each time the music tempo slows) where we have also introduced a scene where we would be using intertextuality from Britney Spear's 'Hit Me Baby One More Time'. The narration will be about the girl meets boy where it will continue to show the obsession of her love through the different scene

The video will start with the intertextuality part to Britney Spears video where we have an character in a class room waiting where she will be tapping her foot like in the Britney Video.Here we cut to a narrative part where the girl is looking at the year book and drawing heart around the pic where her phone rings we denote a POV of who is calling (Candy and a pic of the gummy bear) she looks back to the book and sees pic of gummy bears. An high angle is shown of gummy bears coming out of the phone marching out of the room into the performance (this will be done using a graphic match). We go back to a scene where she seems to be licking the boy's face (the camera), then back to the bed scene where she is in a straight jacket with candies around her from an high angle to make her seem vulnerable. This scene will represent the part of the lyrics where singer is saying "give me give me give me some candy". The video will end with the performance of the band

In the performance we will also have gummy bears marching towards the band while they are performing. We will also have shots where each band member is dominating their own shot which will be represented through close ups. It was decided that the star persona remains the same as we all had similar look to what we wanted the artist to be represented. Overall we have three different locations that will be represented through the video. these locations are a performing stage to represent the performing aspect to the video, a bed room and a class room to represent the narrative and conceptual aspect to the video.

We have amplified the performance part of the video as instead of just performance we will be having activities around the band such as the gummy bears marching to them and the gummy bears on them. The only thing we have challenge is the genre as we are mixing elements of the two genre's together.

i found a woman singing country music in balham highstreet and got her e-mail address as she was intrested in being the artist for our music video.
so i gave her e-mail to shapali because i was having trouble with my account she wrote to her providing her with more infomation and to see if she is still intrested in letting us use her music or not.

This is what i wrote to marie:

Hi Marie,

my name is shapali (Shanura) kalam im a student from chestnut Grove sixth form currently doing my A level in Media. Im in my final year and this year we are studying Music videos.

My friend told me he saw you performing in the street the other day and said you wouldnt mind helping us out but you wanted more infomation.

Well, basically for our A level we have to create a music video, a digi pack and a magazine advert for an independent or unsigned artist.

All we will need from you is you permission to use one of you soundtrack to create a video for it.

if you have time we could use you in the video but if you unfortunately dont we will still like to use your song and get someone to act you part in the video. Copyright is yours and we will not be using your song for any other reasons part from educational purposes.

We will keep you updated with what we are doing all the time and would like you feedback on the final outcome when we are done.
